Today I had some meetings I had to attend so Dad got a foot zone from Linda this morning and that made his feet feel a lot better. Then they came to the campus and we had lunch at the Seasider Cafe. We ate sandwiches on fresh baked bread.
Now the university is home to students from 76 nations around the world. Behind them you can see many of the flags that are raised each day from the countries.
Inside the foyer of the McKay building there are two large murals. This one shows the missionaries landing on the island and dedicating the land for the preaching of the gospel.
This mural depicts the Hawaiian Queen that is defying Pele, the god of Fire and the volcanoes The people feared that allowing the Christians on the island would cause the god to be angry and the volcanoes would erupt. She defied the god and let the missionaries come.
We came home after and had FHE. We reviewed some of the events of the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. We listened to some of the survivors and I was impressed by the fact that both the Americans and the Japanese that survived the attack have met together and forgiven each other and have moved on. Tomorrow we have a VIP tour lined up for Pearl Harbor.
